“KIDS Playing For KIDS” played to a full house at the Rancho Carlsbad Clubhouse Ballroom! The juxtaposition of classical with jazz was a hit with the audience. As the testimonials show, there was not a dull moment on that beautiful Saturday afternoon of music that lasted from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. The audience, consisting of residents of the active retirement community some of whom brought their granchildren along, alternated between rapt attention at the amazing artistry of the young classical pianists Michael Chen & Claire Lewis, violinists Kate & George Ng, and cellist Paul Maxwell (age range: four to fourteen) and gleeful, jaunty delight at the jazzy, professional showmanship of the swinging, adlibbing, original Pizarro Brothers (Dominic and Angelo) who played and sang songs from The Great American Songbook, joined at program’s end by their irrepressible 7-year old sister Arianna in a knock-out performance of Ella Fitzgerald’s “A Tisket, A Tasket.” Little wonder that the comment “Best program ever!” was heard loud and clear at the end of the show. And the photos below show why.
