Max Bruch’s “Trio for violin, viola and piano“ - A video clip

An event of “FIRSTS,” Sunday Afternoon with the ROSSETTI PIANO TRIO launched FanFaire Foundation’s MUSIC APPRECIATION CONCERT SERIES and BRING KIDS TO THE CONCERT PROGRAM. It was also the Foundation’s first ever presentation at the acoustically superb NEUROSCIENCES INSTITUTE AUDITORIUM – indisputably one of the world’s best small concert halls, marking what we hope is the beginning of a productive partnership with the unique research institution that is a sanctuary for both SCIENCE and MUSIC.
The concert featured an inspiring program of PIANO TRIOS by MAX BRUCH, PHILIPP SCHARWENKA, RICHARD STRAUSS, and JEAN SIBELIUS as never presented before, performed by three musicians of international stature:
HENRY GRONNIER (violin), RINA DOKSHITSKY (piano), THOMAS DIENER (viola)
Thomas Diener regaled the audience with his very informative and entertaining commentaries, demystifying CHAMBER MUSIC for the audience – none of whom slept a wink – and giving them many reasons to begin a love affair with the art form. [See Testimonials.] An obviously enthused audience member yelled a very audible “When are you coming back?” during the lively Q&A that followed the performance. And as the just-then-converted, visibly happy chamber music lovers were streaming out of the concert hall, one gentleman was heard to say of Diener: “He is to chamber music what John Motson (the famous British sports commentator) is to football!”
Could there be a better marker of appreciation, if not success, of a “Music Appreciation” event?
