Kids Playing For Kids Concert at Carmel Valley

Young musicians of FanFaire Foundation’s “Kids Playing For Kids” Program

The  Friends of the Carmel Valley Library  will  present a concert program of “Kids Playing for Kids”  at 1:00 p.m. in the library’s community hall on September 28. It is the first in a series of events that will celebrate the program’s second anniversary. It will feature pianists Michael Chen, Angie Gou, Adrian Liu, Anne Liu, Julia Reiners, and Clara Truong; French hornist Christine Chen; violinist Kate Ng, and cellist Paul Maxwell. They will play solos and duets by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Dvorak, Kabalevsky, Liszt, Massenet, Mozart, Rimsky-Korsakov, and the love theme from the film Titanic. The program is free and will last 60 minutes.

The “Kids Playing for Kids” program was launched in October 2011. It enables musically gifted children to express and share their love of music with other children, further develop their creative skills, and build their self-confidence as performers. Its kids are also encouraged to excel in their studies and to learn the value of community service. The goal is that their passion for music will spark creativity and a sense of community in other young people so they can compete effectively in our science-based society. This is possible because playing music enhances the skills required for learning science and math.
